Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Philadelphia and Southeastern PA

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor and remember children and families affected by these rare diseases, and help rally support to give kids with cancer better outcomes by supporting our groundbreaking research.

During the month of September:

  • 25,000 families around the world will get the horrible news that their child or teen has cancer.
  • 6,667 families will experience the loss of a child.

Like other forms of cancer, childhood cancer has an international symbol, the gold ribbon. This is an easily-recognizable symbol to unite under, if people know what it means. Sadly, when asked, most people would not be able to identify the gold ribbon as the symbol for childhood cancer awareness. So for the last week of September, Let’s “GO GOLD” to show our support for children with cancer.
